CHARITY CAMPAIGN

Summary

Upon my father's diagnosis with motor neurone disease (MND), I initiated a unique fundraising campaign with the initial target of raising £3,000 in 12 months for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA). With a blend of creativity, traditional running challenges, and interactive milestones, not only did we surpass our initial target in half the time, but we also raised over £6,000 by the end of the campaign.

Objectives

(1) Fundraise: Achieve a donation total of £3,000 within 12 months

(2) Engagement: Involve and interact with donors by setting mini-challenges at every £1,000 milestone

(3) Awareness: Utilise social media platforms to increase visibility and inspire others with our journey

Execution

  • Partnered with a friend to expand the reach and impact of the campaign

  • Signed up and took part in for four running events:

    • Tough mudder

    • Reading half marathon

    • 5K colour run (completed three-legged)

    • Bournemouth marathon

  • Implemented a unique strategy by introducing mini-challenges at every £1,000 milestone

  • Engaged donors through polls, allowing them to choose the challenges & designate who would undertake each one

  • Filmed and documented each challenge, sharing the videos on a dedicated YouTube channel

  • Cross-promoted and engaged with donors and supporters on Facebook and Instagram

  • Collaborated with MNDA as an official fundraising ambassador providing content for newsletters & social channels

  • Present at regional conferences, sharing my journey and raising awareness

Outcomes

  • Exceeded original target by more than double - raising over £6,000 (excluding gift aid) - see HERE

  • Created a significant online presence through interactive challenges, leading to increased engagement & visibility

  • The unique approach led to recognition from MNDA, culminating in invitations to speak at various conferences
