CRISIS MANAGEMENT

Summary

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, while Oxa's core industry was spared direct impacts, we grappled with operational challenges ranging from facilities management to employee well-being. Appointed by the COO in March 2020, I was a key member of the 'COBRA' team, a cross-functional group, entrusted with steering the company through these tumultuous times, prioritising urgent measures and facilitating their execution.

Objectives

(1) Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity.

(2) Employee Well-being: Foster a safe and supportive work environment during the pandemic.

(3) Communication Enhancement: Boost internal communication to maintain team cohesion for remote workers

Execution

  • Collaborated with the CEO, COO, Facilities Lead, and HR team to address business resumption

  • Conducted risk evaluations and designed appropriate response strategies

  • Procured essential health equipment and introduced health and safety protocols

  • Established a company-wide intranet for streamlined communication

  • Orchestrated an internal communication survey, virtual events and weekly company updates

  • Facilitated interactive sessions with departmental leaders

  • Assisted in launching employee well-being initiatives, including training and virtual social spaces

  • Worked alongside COO and CEO to build a comprehensive business continuity plan

Outcomes

  • Secured overwhelmingly positive employee feedback concerning the newly instituted policies and protocols

  • Succeeded in maintaining minimal infection rates across the organisation

  • Notably curtailed employee absences linked to mental health challenges
