EDI INTIATIVE

Summary

Recognising a significant gender disparity within Oxa, the Head of Talent and I jointly initiated a project to bolster our equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) standards. Our goal was to enhance global talent attraction, empower our workforce, and inspire change within the wider technology sector.

Objectives

(1) Data-Driven Insight: Conduct workplace audits and gather feedback to understand the current EDI landscape

(2) Strategic Engagement & Education: Formulate actionable EDI goals, KPIs, and organise educational initiatives

(3) Inclusive Recruitment & Branding: Reframe hiring processes and brand to deeply embed & reflect EDI values

Execution

  • Collaborated with the Head of Talent, HR Manager, and VP of People

  • Conducted a workplace audit and partnered with Inclusive Companies on an Employee Engagement Survey

  • Launched internal voice groups (covering areas like sexuality, religion, gender) and organised regular meetings

  • Rolled out 'lunch & learn' sessions and other workshops featuring external experts to drive awareness and education

  • Partnered with platforms like Applied, SheCanCode & Tech Nation to refine our processes and amplify our message

  • Optimised our hiring procedure based on expert advice and research

  • Built brand as an 'employer of choice' with clever content, inclusive imagery, updated job descriptions & a CSR drive

  • Attended recruitment events and identified sponsorship opportunities for minority engagement

  • Reviewed competitor offerings and implemented improved policies and benefits

  • Led EDI-focused communication for approximately 200 employees and organised training sessions for managers

Outcomes

  • Witnessed a ~500% surge in female applications for technical roles

  • Introduced new employee initiatives, including a revamped maternity policy and an enriched benefits package

  • Observed a 30% growth in employee satisfaction in follow-up surveys
